Acceptance of these terms and conditions:

The GirlBoss Awards (the “Competition”) is a nationwide search for trail-blazing young women who are defying stereotypes and creating change in their communities, and is run by Trade Me Limited (“Trade Me”) and GirlBoss New Zealand (“GirlBoss”). These terms and conditions (“Terms”) are between Trade Me, GirlBoss and you. If you do not accept these Terms you may not enter the Competition and you may not win. Trade Me and Girlboss may vary, suspend or terminate the Competition at any time without notice to you.

Any person or group that either individually or, in the case of a group, consists exclusively of individuals who meet these eligibility criteria may enter the Competition. Eligible persons must:

  1. be between the ages of 11–18 years at the time of entry; and

  2. have done or caused to be done acts or events consistent with GirlBoss’ organisational mission statement, as determined by GirlBoss and Trade Me.

In addition, persons under the age of 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to enter the Competition.

How to enter:

Eligible persons or groups may only be entered by nomination into one or more of the Competition Categories between 8 July 2019 and 9 August 2019. Nominations must be made by completing and submitting the nomination form (the “Form”) hosted on the official Competition page on the GirlBoss website. Nominations made by any other means will not be accepted. You may nominate yourself, or any individual or group who meets the Eligibility criteria. Entry into the Competition is free. Nominees may be entered into one or several Competition Categories.

Competition categories:

The following categories comprise the Competition Categories:

  • Emerging Leader (ages 11–14);

  • Innovation;

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths);

  • Online Impact;

  • Arts and Culture;

  • Sustainability;

  • Community; and

  • Trailblazer.

Entries will be judged against the following criteria: Impact, Complexity, Wow factor/uniqueness, and Challenge (overcoming adversity). The Competition Judges will use these criteria as a guide for determining a winner for each Competition Category.

Competition judges:

GirlBoss will appoint one judge per Competition Category (the “Competition Judges”). The Competition Judges will collectively decide on and be responsible for selecting an eligible nominee to recommend to GirlBoss as an appropriate winner for each Competition Category. GirlBoss reserves the right to select an alternative winner should the chosen nominee be unsuitable for any reason, as determined by GirlBoss.

The winner of each Competition Category will receive a cash prize in the amount of $1,500 NZD, except in the case of the winner of the Trailblazer Competition Category, who will receive $2,000 NZD (each a “Prize”). If a group is chosen as a winner, the prize money for the relevant Competition Category will be divided equally amongst the group members.

Winner notification and announcement:

GirlBoss will select a winner for each of the Competition Categories on 1 September 2019, and will notify each winner via the phone number used to enter the Competition. GirlBoss reserves the right to select an alternative winner if the initial winner does not respond within 48 hours of notification, or if the selected winner cannot attend the GirlBoss Awards Celebration Events (as further described in clause 8). GirlBoss’ decision regarding the winner is final, and no further correspondence will be entered into.

Celebration events:

Each winner must be available for, attend and participate in the GirlBoss winner’s photoshoot, videoshoot, and celebration event (together the “Celebration Events”) in Auckland, New Zealand. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or have provided GirlBoss with written permission from a parent or legal guardian to attend. GirlBoss will meet any travel and accommodation costs that are reasonably incurred by all winners for the purposes of attending the Celebration Events.
